Teaching empathy is best done by modeling. It is a value close to the heart of our school; to not only teach academics, but for the students to know they are respected and, in turn, show that caring toward their peers. Noticing a child help a classmate put on their shoes, friends rushing in to help pick up a spill, or two friends enjoying each other’s company validates their level of caring for each other. Moments like these bring tremendous joy, that we are more than a school, we are family.
